King Engine Bearings was founded in 1960 and has specialized in engine bearings ever since: connecting rod bearings, main bearings and thrust bearings, manufactured in Israel.
We work with the three main ranges in their catalog, each built for a different use:
- XP series: tri-metal construction, designed for high and sustained competition loads.
- HP series: bi-metal construction, designed for street use and boosted or nitrous applications, with good particle-embedding capacity.
- GP series (Gold Performance): the top range, with pMaxKote coating as standard, designed for the highest loads.
Many references also feature coatings that improve wear resistance in case of insufficient lubrication (cold starts, load spikes):
- pMaxKote: a nano-composite ceramic coating, the most common coating in the range.
- Polymer coating: found on some Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) references, reduces friction and improves the bearing's initial break-in.
The code on each reference also indicates shape variants, not just coating:
- N (Narrow): narrow version of the bearing.
- C (Coated): with pMaxKote coating (e.g. "XPC" = XP series + coated).
- G (Grooved): with an oil groove.
- D (Dowelled): with a dowel hole, for blocks or rods that require that locating feature.
On sizing, there are two independent systems:
- Undersizes for a reground crankshaft: 0.010" / 0.020" / 0.030" (or their metric equivalent, 0.25mm / 0.50mm). The bearing is machined thicker on the inside to compensate for the material removed from the crankshaft during regrinding.
- Clearance adjustment on a stock, unmodified crankshaft: STD (factory clearance), STDX (slightly thinner bearing, more clearance) and 0.026mm/0.001" (slightly thicker bearing, less clearance). These three can be mixed with each other to fine-tune clearance between the fixed size steps.
We cover American engines (Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler), European engines (BMW, Opel, VAG Group, Renault, Peugeot/Citroën, Volvo) and Japanese engines (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, Suzuki), from classic blocks to the latest turbo engines.
