Specific PNP application

Specific PNP application

Description

We receive queries asking if it is possible to manufacture a Plug and Play unit for a specific vehicle, although everything is possible, the answer is it depends. The design and manufacture of a Plug and Play unit requires a lot of time and testing, the final price is quite high, so it must be ensured that the final product has an estimated sale for its profitability.

Therefore, it is possible to study the manufacture of Plug and Play engine management units for a specific model when a request is received and the following points are studied:

  • Possibility of finding the necessary material for its construction, such as the connector of the original unit, electrical diagrams, other necessary things.
  • Number of units to be built. There must be at least a group of 5 people who buy the final product. There is the possibility of carrying out the project with a smaller number of interested parties, but the price will be higher than that indicated here, please consult.
  • Feasibility of operation of the final product with the specific vehicle. The characteristics of the final product will be discussed with the interested group, with the interested parties indicating which characteristics they need. These will be checked and reported on if it is possible to implement these characteristics.
  • Possibility of having a vehicle for testing at Piratamotor's facilities.

Once the above points have been discussed with the interested group and an agreement has been reached by both parties, the following conditions will be agreed upon:

  • A budget for the total project will be drawn up. If the budget is accepted by the interested parties, they must make an advance payment of €300 + VAT per unit. Unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Once the advance payment has been received, a preliminary design will be made and the necessary tests will be carried out on the agreed vehicle at Piratamotor's facilities.
  • If the tests carried out on the test vehicle are satisfactory, the necessary PCBs will be designed and a Plug and Play unit will be built for final testing in a vehicle.
  • If there are any flaws in the design regarding the accepted conditions, they will be resolved and a new PCB will be manufactured at no cost, retesting it in a final vehicle until it works correctly, complying with the specifications indicated.
  • When the design is functional and complies with the agreed characteristics, the interested parties will pay the remaining amount of the total budget - the €300 + VAT deposit made for the start of the project. Once the payment has been made, the rest of the requested units will be built and shipped.
  • Each unit sent will be checked in its vehicle by remote control or at the Piratamotor facilities, if the client prefers.
  • It should be noted that the final product will not have finished engine maps, it will only comply with the agreed technical specifications. The production of finished maps will be charged separately for each vehicle. The production of an engine map in one vehicle and it being valid for the rest of the vehicles cannot be guaranteed, even if they are all the same.
  • This type of product cannot be returned or cancelled. In the event of a cancellation, the advance payment will be lost.
  • The estimated time from acceptance of the quote to delivery of the final product will be indicated in the quote.
Megasquirt

Megasquirt ECUs started out as educational units, but they still are, over time they have evolved into ECUs that have the same features as other brands, in some cases superior, at a much cheaper price and without any restrictions.

MegaSquirt® ECUs are not approved for emissions regulations, this does not mean that they cannot comply with them, with good adjustment they can do so, especially in highly modified engines, where the original management is very limited. They are designed for racing vehicles that do not operate on public roads, older vehicles that do not have to comply with emissions regulations and training centres where teachers can teach their students how an ECU works from the inside and without anything hidden.
